As I mentioned, December is all about intentions and actions for 2010. Gratitude plays a big role in this – especially from the perspective of taking a look at where you have been. We can’t know where we are going unless we know where we’ve been.
It’s great to look at how far we’ve come, because so many of us promptly forget that we’ve finished anything significant the minute it’s over. Intentional life planning starts with the question:
“What went really well this year?”
This is all about reflecting on the goodies and accomplishments that happened, or we made happen, over the last year.
To get you started, I will list just a few of the amazing things that went really right for me this year. Then, it’s your turn.
*Received an award for the training program that my co-worker and I designed for US Embassy Rome.
*Began training to be a coach with Martha Beck which connected me with the most amazing group of like-minded people I’ve ever met.
*Began my coaching business and can say, without any hesitation that I am doing exactly what I am meant to do in the world.
*My daughter loves her school and is healthy and happy.
*Erick loves his job and has found his true calling in life as well.
*Spending the summer with my family in Oregon and getting so much time to focus on getting the structure of my business in place was PURE BLISS!
This is just a small sample of the list that I made. Writing your own list, and taking some time to savor and appreciate all the accomplishments and gifts of 2009, is a perfect place to begin planning for 2010. When you take the time to absorb how much you do, it brings home how much impact you can have on your life.
Try it and let me know if you don’t completely surprise yourself with all you’ve done and all you’ve been freely given. Let yourself enjoy that sense of accomplishment and gratitude, then it will be time to turn your attention to creating intent for 2010!
