Saying “yes” to all of life

by Everyday Yogini on September 28, 2009

I will not die an unlived life.

I will not live in fear

of falling or catching fire.

I choose to inhabit my days,

to allow my living to open me,

to make me less afraid,

more accessible;

to loosen my heart

until it becomes a wing,

a torch, a promise.

I choose to risk my significance,

to live so that which came to me as seed

goes to the next as blossom,

and that which came to me as blossom,

goes on as fruit.

Hi Dawna!

I would love to see yoga more accessible to seniors, particularly in assissed living facilities, nursing homes, and senior centers. Seniors may benefit the most from yoga. Do you have any suggestions on how to make this happen? Perhaps you know someone I should talk to?

Joe,
Yoga in a chair is a wonderful way for seniors have Yoga offered to them! I highly recommend contacting a studio local to you, and seeing if there is a teacher who can teach in that way. Kimberly Wilson, in the D.C. area (owner of Tranquil Space Studios) offers chair Yoga to seniors locally, so I know that many teachers do this. If I can help in any way, please let me know.

Kind Regards,
Nona

That was inspiring and courageous, and I smiled warmly at the idea of loosening my heart so it becomes a wing :) . I actually work with Del Monte, and if anyone is looking for healthy eats in between your yoga sessions, our citrus bowls and Superfruits are a great pick. The fruit comes pre-peeled and ready to eat, and the container is perfect for on the go. Anyone seen them? If you’re interested you can visit our website and pick up some coupons, or look over some great light recipes. I think it was the ending of this beautiful poem that made me think of our fruit ;)
